Me too, looking at possible trade in on 2010. Local dealer has some 4x4's but they are all 3.08 geared machines, a rcsb 2wd with 3.42 gear and 6 speed would be pretty decent I think.

Plan to go testing next week.

When I got to the Chevy or GMC website and build a truck, it does not gove me the 6 speed option, just the 4 speed. I have my prefect truck built except for the transmission.

You have to bump engine to 5.3L.

That 3.08 geared 6 speed will yield the same ratio in 1st gear as a 4l60e with 4.10 gears. So you get all the benefits of 4.10s, but you still will get great highway gas mileage with the 3.08s. My only concern with 3.08s is that the 5.3 doesn't have enough torque to lug up highway hills at 1500 rpms.

2010 only (4.8's and 6 cyl still get 4 speed auto, everything else is 6 speed for 2010)

I know, still want the 3.42's, heavy trucks need gearing or huge torque to get rolling.
