Default Paint Issues NNBS

My buddy has a Black 2008 as a company vehicle. He got it off in the mud out in the country. The mud sat on the paint for the better part of 2 days (as they were out working). After washing it off, the paint has really marring of the paint.

In talking to several detail shops in trying to get it fixed they said this was something they ran into "often" with newer model GM's and recommended cleaning any mud off ASAP and never to let it sit on the paint for any period of time.

I am wondering if anyone has seen similar issues with darker colors and newer body style trucks?

For the record, this was not a matter of any chemicals geting on the paint. This was just plain old mud out in the country...

I scheduled my truck with a local detailer he specializes in black paint literally, that's what his ad says. He removes water spots and swirl marks etc. My truck is a 2wd street queen never any mud and well to other people it looks great but I get it washed and cleaned and to me it looks like ****. So from what you said it doesn't surprise me at all.

mud/dirt has acid and different things in it naturally, you should never let it stay dried on the paint/wheels very lomg no matter what year the truck is.

But, here is the issue. The same person just swapped out his 2004 for a 2008. The 2004 would sit for days with mud on it, and has since it was new in 2004. The paint looks great. The same mud...

So, there is some issue with the new paint system not being "up to snuff".

The rest of his co-workers are now aware of the issue, and they will be cleaning their new vehicles to prevent the issue, but when you are working in the field you don't always have time to go wash your vehicle.

i think the paint on the newer trucks is complete crap. my 2000 granted it was white would get june bug guts all over it and not get washed for a week because it would happen daily on a commute. i did not have problems with the paint on the truck.

i get my 07 in black and would wash it every weekend and it got bugs on it early in the week and when i washed it friday the paint was etched. when i bought it the aftermarket lady did pretty much tell me the clear coat sucked on the new ones because of crap that was taken out of it for environmental reasons and bla bla bla.

it is pretty disappointing though especialy since i work in construction
