3.08s will get you much worse city mileage and on the highway it will be a dog going up hills, sloppy pedal too.

3.06 x 3.73 = 11.41
4.03 x 3.08 = 12.41

First gear with the 6L80E and 3.08 gears will feel better than first gear in a 4L60E with 3.73's.

the engine is just an aluminum 5.3 w/flex fuel. the effeciency comes from lowering, lighter weight, and a 3.08 rear gear.

Yea, no offense guys, but some of ya'll are just plain stupid.
To elaborate on NightHawk's post:

4.10 X 3.06 = 12.546 (4l60e with 4.10s)

Thats pretty comparable to the first gear in the XFE truck. (12.41 overall) I would love to have 4.10 acceleration in my truck with 3.23 cruising RPMs. So yea, I'm missing the downsides.....

This would be a great truck for modding because its lowered and lightened from the factory IMO.

So what did they do to lighten the truck. The aluminum block, that's it? We're talkin' maybe 80lbs here- tops..................

Soft tonneau cover (improves aerodynamics)
Extended front lower air dam (improves aerodynamics)
Lowered suspension and revised chassis tuning (improve aerodynamics)
Aluminum lower control arms (reduce mass)
Aluminum spare wheel (reduces mass)
Seventeen-inch aluminum wheels (reduce mass)
Automatic locking rear differential
Trailering package
