new vortec 5.3 XFE?

so whats the low-down on this engine? what did GM do to it to make it more fuel efficient than the LY5??

ahh......thanks for the link. So what I'm gathering is that the new pickups that are equipped with the 6 speed automatic trans get the "XFE" designation??

Your looking at weight reduction with the aluminum block. VVT, Tuning, less drag and smaller gear ratio all combined.
