i just swapped over my pcm/ecm from nelson tonight.

i turn the key and i get the crank/cam position relearn (i have access to a scanner for that)

but it is also throwing a service theft deterrent system code. and i have no clue as to what that is? can someone help me out here so i can get this truck to start!

truck is an 08 5.3/60e combo with mods in sig.

 

You gotta do a security relearn. I think all you do is attempt to start it, wait for the security light to go out then turn the key off for 30 seconds. do that three times and it should start.

 

tried it, didnt work, but the service light never went out.

can anyone help me out here

 

put your stock one back and see if it works

 

i thought about that, but what would that accomlish in getting my tune to work on my truck?

 

If you don't do the security relearn exactly right, it's not going to start. It takes about 45 minutes, and I believe it takes 4 or 5 cycles. Try it again.

 

you didnt have your key in the ignition when you swapped ecm/tcm did you? i was told that you shouldnt do that since your truck will still register that you have your key in. then itll put your truck in theft mode. dont hold me to that bc i dont know for sure. its just a rumor i heard.

 

^^^^ hes right, plus not turning your radio and ac off will mess it up. Try the security relearn again. when the key is on during the cycles it takes like 12 minutes or so for the security light to turn off. then you have to turn it off all the way. Should work, if not contact your tuner.

 

it took me two cycles then it started, kyle was right i just didnt know i would have to wait 12 min for the light to go off. thanks again
