Default New 6.2 first trip mileage report

I finally took a little freeway trip (90% freeway) in the new silvy. It was full of premium instead of e85, for a change, and it got 16.4 mpg at 70-75. This baby is strictly stock, but only has 2,000 mi on it. Tomorrow I'm putting the tonneau on it and expect that will add a little on the freeway. Around town, it's been impossible not to dip into the torque of that 6.2 so I may never know how good it can do on city mileage ... oh well!

You should try 65 mph. It will shock you how much better the mileage is. Mine will hold 20-22mpg.

I get 11-12 in town, and probably close to 17 hwy. I will have to calculate this. But for a 6.2 that seems right on the money with what everybody else gets.

+1. You said you had 3.73, and the closer you get to 2000 rpms, you are playing with that "drink or sip gas" line. At 65 my mileage is considerably better, but whats the fun in that?

"Extra few bucks"? At a 3 MPG loss, that is a tank of gas after 100 or so miles...

I hear ya! One of these days I'll try it at 60-65 - I know a little difference in speed made a huge mileage difference on my old 5.3 and should do the same on this one. But, hell, what's the fun in that? It'll depend on whether I'm in a rush or broke on any given trip!

Mine is cammed, stalled, with full bolt ons with the 4L60E and I get 15-16 on mixed city/hwy driving. All hwy gets me 17-18 mpg. but all city gets me 12-13!
