motor swap 07 silverado 4.8 to 2010 5.3
i have 07 crew cab with 4.8 and have chance to get a low milage 5.3 out of 2010 complete with harness and has 799 heads, how do I tell what yr motor is and miles on it? and its a dod motor so I would have to delete that before I install it but would it be worth all this or just put gears and headers on my 4.8?

Not worth the hassle imo. If you re gear and add longtubes and a stall along with a tune you'll be miles ahead of a stock 5.3 for less work. GENIV stuff is not easy to swap around like the gen3 stuff is. Others will have different advice im sure but a step in cubes from a 4.8 to a 5.3 just isnt worth the time or money.
Now a 6.2 or bigger?.....

sounds good I passed on the 5.3 and will run 4.8 till get a 6.0 or 6.2 for the swap witch makes a lot more since because I want mild motor with torque for towing and reliability!!
