More recent MCG spindle problems
http://www.gmfullsize.com/forum/showthread.php?t=150516

I basically just want to know if its just me who's had these types of issues.
09 Silverado crew cab
Doing 4/7 drop
(McG flip kit / helper bags out back, McG springs / spindles upfront)

So we do the fronts now. No problem passenger side.
Drivers side we run into a huge problem.
The hole for the top ball joint of the spindle wasn't finished(or not finished properly) I guess? It was about .200's too small top and bottom of the tapered hole.
It kept binding up while reinstalling.

Luckily my dad used to be a machinist and a few of his friends are still in the trade. We go over to my dad's buddy's place and make a bit from grinding down a cutting bit so it has the same angle on the taper, going from .680 down to .440

Finally got back home just now.
12 hours of work and its still not done.
Just need to rebolt up the spindle and knuckle.
Put everything back together. Bolt on tires and then get an alignment.

**** ME

The Spindle at the steering wheel bearing just cracked on the drivers side when we were bolting it on.
On the phone with McG right now

im looking to swap from 4" LCAs to Spindles/Springs on my NBS (not NNBS).. is McGaughys the only company out there with a 16"+ spindle? also im hearing alot about spindles affecting turning radius. what can you guys tell me about that? (if its minor then im not to worried about it)

I'm guessing the crack is a result from tightening it down with a impact. Happens alot when they are overtightened.

I wouldn't post too many negative comments on their products........McG has threatened legal action against a few members on silveradoSS in the past......

How can someone threaten legal action over opinion? Especially when they sell something that is known for its problems and being an unfinished product.

So they won an award, and did they really win it? It might have been given to them but still... Why are the spindles for the nnbs lacking in quality?

I agree

I stumbled across that debate when searching for information on the NBS spindles..... I wound up selling the mcgaughys parts afterwards

i have McG spindles on my truck, no problems... i did have to cut the ball joint thread, but other than that, rides good, turning radius about the same as stock. im about to cut my stock springs to lower it 2" more, and doing a flip kit out back.
