Well I originally was running 5w30 Synthetic and had the oil cooler bypassed due to the fitting wouldnt tighten down on the new radiator i installed. Didnt figure I needed the oil cooler and it was just an added feature. I am in SC and its been about 100-105 degrees every day for the past month. I think that w that sort of temp along w light weight oil and the fact the oil cooler was bypassed that it is thinning out the oil.

It doesnt throw a code until i run the motor for about 30 min or so...ie. heating up and thinning out.

I know its not a bearing clearance issue due to the fact that I now have 10k miles on this newly built motor and I have been driving the **** out of it. I think it wouldve gave by now if that was the case.

I put a quart or 20w50 in it and it actually helped it a lil bit, maybe 4-5 psi

Cold start idle- 40 psi (normal right?)
30 min running warm idle-10 psi (low right?) It does jump up significantly when i rev it up.

put 10w 30 or 20w 50 whatever you feel like. i run 10w 30 and never had a issue with any truck. if it was the o ring you wouldnt have normal pressure on first crank up. also you dont have to have the cooler as a ton of trucks dont. did you swap your cooler plate back to one that doesnt have the oil ports?

Nah I havent changed the plate. Im just going to hook it up but I have to get over to 1800 Radiator first. lol I changed the oil yest to 20w50 and it defintely raised the pressure in both cold and warm conditions. At crank in the am its at like 55 psi and then itll drop down to 17-19 psi at warm idle. Whats so aggravating is that I believe this issue is throwing the stabiltrack and traction control error which makes the truck shift extremely hard when its on. When its off it doesnt. Also, the stabilitrac and traction control error doesnt come on until a while after the truck warms up...like 30 min of driving. Thats why I feel its connected to this oil pressure issue. What u think?

can you put a scan gauge on the truck to see the oil pressure? my "gauge" says 22-25 but on my Dash hawk it is actually 35-38psi at warm idle and 45-47psi at warm cruise

just turn it off

The low oil pressure is causing the VVT to freak out and putting the truck into limp mode.

So I found this.

IMPORTANT LS Gerotor Oil Pump Data - Corvette Forum

So do you think its safe to say my mechanic made a mistake by throwing a ported TSP LS6 oil pump on a VVT engine which required a bit more oil flow?

I'd be curious to know which o-ring was installed. Not all VVT engines got the "L99" AKA GM's high-volume pump, some had the LS6.

No, I don't think that's an issue at all here.

Then why does TSP sell an oil pump specifically for LS3 VVT and stroker applications? If this wasn't the case then why wouldn't the LS6 ported oil pump be suffice?
