Default lightest stock 17's?

looking to put together a set of wheels for the dragstrip on the cheap. my plan is to find a set of factory 17's with tires, pull two of the tires off and replace them with dr's or slicks. anybody got an idea which stock 17's are the lightest?

just by looking at the options available, my hunch is that these would be lightest, but they are steel.

would these be lighter since they are aluminum?

Probably gonna have to weigh 'em. Some cast aluminum wheels are overbuilt for strength and heavier than you would think. Forged aluminum can be nice and light but $$$$.

My Denali 17's I just got are pretty darn light, to me they seem to way less than my 16's I used to have.

From what I have been told the ones I'm running are 28Lbs without tires...

But I think the chevy 17s are the lightest. IIRC these are about 19 lbs each but not positive once again. I've also read they they're exactly 23.8

Denali 17s are about 28 lbs each. All of these weights are only from what I've read though.

I started off with a set of the generic 17" steel rims and I can tell you they are heavier than my stock aluminum rims that came on the truck. I ran them for one season with some used street tires since it was nice to just bolt on different rims and tires when heading to the track.

I would scour CL and see if you can score a deal on there. I lucked out earlier this year and found a set of 17" Centerlines. Picked up all 4 for $180. They need work to make shine but here is a before and after picture of one. I just ended up plasti dipping them for now tell I want to take the time to wet sand and polish them all up.

Day I got them

After a little love. Still not where I would want them though

I haven't weighed them but I know they are TONS lighter than my stock aluminum 17's

What we all need a dude who works at a dealer and brings in a scale and weighs each factory wheel. Ive been scouring the boards for ages trying to find wheel weights but not many seem to care

Centerlines make some VERY light wheels for trucks. You have to be careful though some are rated for bigger tires and weigh more but very good drag wheels for us truck guys nonetheless and iirc the fastest 4.8L runs centerlines.
