comp 918 are about as good a spring you can get... the comp 850 lifter is a good replacement, not sure if they will work in a VVT motor with VVT turned off though.

steer clear of the 918's IMO... too many of them breaking and dropping valves lately. I run Crane duals.

I put GMPP lifters in which are basicly LS7 lifters. They will work with VVT motors since the lifters have nothing to do with that. The GMPP lifters said they would work with several LS motors.

RUN LS7 lifters, and LS6 springs, and the whole darn $600 worth of junk you need to pull the lifters. I PM'd you.

Ive been there already, it sucks to spend that much on a cam change, but that is the deal with the AFM/DOD bullcrap motor.

If you are cheap you can buy just 8 GM replacement lifters and re-use the 8 "good" (Same as LS7) lifters that are in the engine already. Be careful though, you need the LS3/ LS7 lifter trays.

It's not a fun job. The key is the LS3 type valley tray cover, to keep the oil from bleeding after the LS7 lifter install.

basically you can run a "small" cam with the DOD motors without having to change the lifters right? I've heard anything around .550" lift is the max, not sure thats true or not. However, if the LS7 lifters will allow me to maintain AFM/DOD and run a larger cam without turning that feature off, that would be SWEET!!

Default cam swap

I am putting in a vinci trucker cam in my truck this week and I will give a detailde report. I am also putting in new rocker arms (1.8 ratio), push rods, dual springs and lifters. I hope it all goes smooth, but you know how it is.

i know its been a while since this thread has been replied to.
why do you need a 12599670(timing chain damper)
also you have all the seals and gaskets seperated, why not buy a cam kit(12499228)
if i want to keep my stock type cam(1bolt) or is it wiser to go with the 3 bolt sprocket? whats the part number for the 3 bolt sprocket that will work with my 08 5.3 timing cover?
