Well guys she seems to be running well on 9-10lbs on 93. Still working on getting it dialed on totally. Trying ti decide if I should go e85 or water meth to boost power up. I have a nice water meth kit but I also like the e85 benefits and ease however the nearest station is about 30 min away.

So I was out playing and taking some logs in the truck and made a pull and white smoke everywhere. Truck seems to be running fine and still makes power but its loosing oil again. The only thing I can think of is that damn valley cover gasket let go again. It def seems to be under boost its pushing the oil out cause as I was trying to get it honey it would run clear and be good and if I went into boost it would start smoking from under the truck again. Anyone else had problems with the valley cover or any other ideas where its coming from? Thanks guys.

Should be able to see the oil around the valley cover if its leaking that badly again. If it is the cover again the things got to be warped or something.
Where is your turbo drain line connected? Sure its draining well enough?

Turbo drain is straight down to the front of the oil pan.
I put on a new valley cover and gasket and it had fixed all the problems. Not sure what happened today. Tomorrow I'm gonna start tearing it down again and we will find out.

Looks like its time for an update to this thread.

There was nothing wrong with the truck the oil drain got a hole chewed threw it when it shifted up into the ac belt.

Easy fix no problems. all is well

Up next i took it to the track for the first time
I of course had to through some stickies and skinny on it before just for good measure.

Well the truck looks like it rips and sounds like it rips but sadly with a stock converter there was nothign but disappointment to be found. best of the night was 13.6 at 106 with a 2.6 60. Absolutely terrible. I only made 2 passes and new i was fighting a loosing battle.

Fast forward a head a while back i came across a great deal on a 3200 circle d hp series converter so i pick it up. This is a good match for my combo even though ill max it out. Well after looking at some numbers and calling circle d its actually a 2600 converter which is to small for what i need.

I know the 6l80 is only temp as it will never support the ultimate goal. So now im at a crossroad. Spend money on a converter that isn't going to have long term payoff or go 4l80.

Well i decided i love having a little debt hanging over my head so i ordered up the PCM of NC 6l80 to 4l80 harness, a trucool 40k, and a new circle d converter.

Now i need to decide what to do with the trans.
Im heavily leaning towards a used trans with an hd2 for the time being. I know it won't last for ever but 8-900 bucks meets the budget a lot more than 32-3600 does for a jakes or rossler trans.

Any input from you guys?

Hopefully i will have it back up and running by the end of june and ripping harder than ever.

Spend the money on a 6l80 converter and have a little faith lol.
I dont see how a stock/used 4l80 is going to be any better than your 6l80 in the short term. Keep it till you're ready to drop the money on a built 4l80.
6l80 in my yukon (6k lbs, awd) takes a beating with just a 40k cooler on it and 3k stall. It's made a couple dozen 13.6@102 mph, 1.9x 60s

second keeping the 6l80. those are beasts from the factory and have a large aftermarket for support and upgrades. Get the converter and watch that et drop by more than half a second. Mark my words.

Guys the goal with this truck is to drop it into the 10s at least. You really think the 6l80 is capable of that in a truck this heavy. It seems the corvette guys are having problems doing it and they are much lighter.

The plan is to crank this thing to 20+lbs on e or meth and let it eat. I just don't see it lasting that long on that kind if power.

Let me know if I'm wrong here.

"They" used to tell us our 200R4s wouldn't hold up either and to swap in Turbo 400s. We proved them wrong and kept on going Fast With Class!
