Towing and supporting the weight of the tongue are two different but related things. I figure the real question when lowering and towing is what kind of tongue weight am I going to hook up? Sure you can pull it while lowered that’s the easy part. The question is how much of the load to be towed weight will the truck need to support. The link below gives an approximate tongue weight for of 480 lbs.

http://www.themalibucrew.com/forums/...49&mode=linear

That being said how much does the rear end sag when 480 lb’s is on the bumper? Measure the amount of suspension travel while unloaded (distance from frame to bumpstop), subtract the amount of sag you measured with the 480lbs. Next subtract the amount you want to lower it. Now how much travel do you have left? Are you ok with that amount?

Don’t forget all the goodies you bring with you people, coolers, ect. Depending on where they are riding or stowed it will affect the results also.

Not sure if that works, but I think it will get you closer to your answer other that a simple sure or no way without knowing what your dealing with.

As for me I'd lower until your satisified bolt on a set of helper bags and add air as needed.

Good luck.

um, how big is the boat??

for the most part you should be able to balance it on the axles and avoid massive tongue weight.

Now this fine example.........we used a trailer for a buddy's 31 on this 33 ft cigarette and you can see that the *** of my sub is high and dry. the boat is too far, back, we had to move the part with teh rubber bumper that comes up on teh 45 forward, and that wasn't enough.......eventually for next season we need a longer front rail for the trailer to put the hitch out further forward..........and to think he wanted to use his 1500 avalanche to yank this thing out of the water....

yes this ****** is around 11K lbs with 200 gallons, 2 big blocks, soaking wet etc, GM in their infinite stupidity rates my sub at 7400 because of the 3.73's in it, or 9400 if it had 4.10's........obviously I didn't let that stop me.
