Have to swap the cover, the cam, the timing gear etc. I suppose you could run the VVT cam static but regardless Im a BIG fan of VVT it makes great power when tuned properly. Taking it out is stepping backwards. If hes going to do that then Id just get an LQ9 6.0L and swap it in instead. Cheaper, easier, make about the same power and easier to cam

LQ4/9 is a 24x reluctor wheel vs the 58x reluctor wheel that the 07+ trucks need. you have to pull the crank and have the wheel pressed off then the new one pressed on, change the timing gear, front cover, redrill the side of the block to mount the newer knock sensors bc the GEN III block has them under the valley cover

id buy a KB kit since he has some on sale right now
id look into a 72mm bc IF you were to build a 6.0/370 later you wouldnt have a baby turbo. run stock 3" exhaust with a cut out 
also if you was to do a KB kit get random cold parts so you can fab your own. if you had a TIG machine id weld the pipes vs couplings for less places for the pipe to blow out

Agreed 72 would be perfect! Especially if you order from KB you can get advised on the best trim to suit your needs, As in less lag more bottom end or screaming insane'o whatever you want. But 72mm would be sweeeeeet
