FIX: Door lock pawl broken
2008 Avalanche LTZ 6.0 4wd. Long story short, bought with hard P0301 misfire and 224k cheap after it sat for 2 years. Could not get unlocked since battery was dead using key. GM says need to purchase entire lock cylinder to get #9 (RED PAWL) part that is the driver's front lock pawl that attaches to lock rod. Strattec Pt# 693090 is available for about $4.00 plus s/h from several vendors. Modifying part store pawl for fitment in lieu of wait time.
UPDATE: Repair part ordered, delivered, installed and I'd like to report is that it is like new. I didn't take any photos of the disassembly nor reassembly process as that is covered plenty throughout "Google University". I ordered the part (x3 in event if another failure) online from the following link. It is in fact a direct replacement for the OEM produced for GM by Strattec. $3.26 each and shipping was about $10.00 and took 3 days. Hope this helps anyone as vehicles age and annoying cheap parts fail along the way.
