3.08's with your 4 speed trans will not help your gas mileage in my opinion. If your truck is a 4wd cause you said awd but Tahoe's don't come awd, then you have to change the gears in the front diff to. The cost of the gear swap will out weight any gas savings you may have from swapping to 3.08's. Good luck with your truck, its pretty.

Thanks man. I worked for GM for 10 years as a tech,..never seen the leather option before. Thanks again.

I haven't done gear vs rpm math yet for either yet but, you don't think a lower rpm would decrease fuel consumption? I admit, I have been a six speed manual guy my whole life,..so autos, to me, other then the basic operation of them, is not exactly my language. I live near highway, I work near highway, I drive in 70-80mph traffic everyday...usually cruise speed,...sometimes stop and go. I figured a low(er) rpm would help. As it did in my vette. I also figured a small turbo,..would light up relatively quick,..so any loss of acceleration from the gear swap...the turbo just pumping in even a couple of psi would take up the loss imo. I am def open to thoughts/experience to why this would/wouldn't work. It makes sense to me but, it's math I haven't done yet.
My bad on the typo 4wd/awd...get to know me long enough,..you'll see them more often. Been a AM General H1/truck tech for years...lol,..unfortunately also brain dead at times.
I can get Yukon gears for pretty sweet prices,..and the work,..I can bang out myself. Not too much of an investment other then my sweet *** time. Front diff/rear diff gear swap, check. Thanks for the tips/help, and the props.
Here is the latest from today....
So here goes....I bought some steel spares, with tires...3 total lol....that's all they had. And then I did the Forge-Tec's in grey plasti dip.
...near zero balanced, nitro, Trinity tire size changed, and then aligned. Feels good, def better balance then what was on there before. Slight sluggishness felt in the vehicle compared to the 17" Denali's that where on there before. Anywho, I like the over all look. I ended up screwing up one wheel, just the plasti dip finish,...I put an extra coat on one wheel,..the thicker coat got caught when the close tolerance of the lug nuts to lug nut hole....and pulled a plastic patch right out. It was the last wheel, and a wtf moment but,...you had to laugh. I cut the loose skin...and sprayed new paint right on the wheel without taping it off. It looked horrible when I did that...I planned to take off the wheel and re-doe that one but, looking at it tonight with a light, it doesn't look so bad, as the plastic looks like it mended to itself.
Anyways...fun fun. Done with the truck for a while once I get the rest of the lights installed....next, gear reduction. Picked up my V band manifolds..will start the plotting from here.

If you do a 3.08 gear swap the same time you install a turbo kit then I believe your gas mileage will increase for the better. If you just do the gears I believe your truck will find it harder to accelerate its heavy weight with the 4 speed auto and it might even hurt your gas mileage. If you live in a hilly area then it will def. hurt it. If flat then it might help.

Word. Fortunatly in South Florida I just have speed bumps and dumb ***'s to roll over so,...pretty flat other then that.

I may take off the Tahoe emblems off the side...and place them there...kinda Z06ish. That, or they'd end up on a tool box. I'm an emblem hoarder bro. Sorry.
Thanks!! much appreciated.
