Is there a quick way via the VIN to check for engine size for GMT 900?
I'm looking for Chev or GMC 07-09 RCSB with 5.3, and don't want to go through all the dealer BS looking in the glove box and find out I'm looking at a 4.3 or a 4.8.

What letter/ number would 5.3 be ?

 

Google the vin, then click on the show me the CARFAX for it. It will give you the basic info for free.

 

5.3L, VIN 0, 8th digit, opt LMG

5.3L, VIN 3, 8th digit, opt LC9
5.3L, VIN M,8th digit, opt LH6
6.0L (VIN Y, 8th digit, opt L76)

I'm just starting truck shopping and don't want to get lied to about a 4.8 being a 5.3
