Default Duramax exhaust

Hey guys. I'm collecting parts for my turbo setup, but I'm desperately wanting to make this thing a little louder while I wait. I've found a dura max exhaust off of an '09 with less than a 1000 miles for 30 bux. Seems like a good deal. I'm wondering if I mate this to my bone stock 4.8l truck if will kill power. I planned on a tune too. I'm wanting to weld it to the stock y pipe with stock cats etc. it is a stock exhaust truck. So, I guess it would basically be a cat back using a dura max stock muffler and pipe. Is it going to be any louder or should I weld In a new muffler? I stumbled across a thread where a guy modified a stock d max setup that I thought he had in a rcsb with two longer cased mufflers in line, but I can't seem to find it again. Thanks!

IMO just get a 4" in and out strait through muffler and get it 4" back from you "y" pipe for now, turbo is going to change everything, some shops can bend the tube and do it cheap, and it will fit right.

FWIW i dont know if it will hang right or not, heard they would. Prolly just need some slight mod for the connection. I am goign to just make and bend my own, but i have an 3" OFY and want to go 4" from there back, then go over the frame below the box and right through the fender on the passenger side

Well first of all that's a diesel particulate filter in there so you would not want to put it on a gas engine.

But they are worth a lot more than $30 if it's not gutted buy it and re sell it.

This is the only picture i have of my duramax exhaust on my crew cab. I had to offset the muffler a tad to line up with the oem exhaust. Then chop the axle section to make it clear.
I can get more pictures tomorrow if needed.

As for the muffler it wont be much louder, but it will be a tame setup for boost later

oh yeah, I definitely know that, I was referring to just the stock muffler. All he has left for 30 is the stock muffler and tail pipe section.

Thank you for all of the pics and info! I think i am going to go ahead and buy this. I will run the stock muffler for a while but might do a different one down the road.
