bad pinion angles which can cause vibration and flex can also make a driveshaft kill itself. aluminum or steel, it dont matter. 6061 t6 aluminum has the close to the same strength as a36 steel. now you can shell out the extra coin and get a 4130 shaft which is almost twice as strong as regular steel

(t6)- about 40,000 yeild strength
(a36 mild- 35,000 yeild strength
4130 normalized chromoly 65,000 yield strength
