I just busted a 3 1/2" steel custom ds with spicer ends and yoke 1410 ujoints in front and a 1350 to 1330 in the rear, im not sure on thickness but when i got a measurement off the broken ds it was like 1/8" thick! it was around 126 mph range, it caused about 3-4k$ in all around damage so my word of advice is spend the extra money on the best ds u can buy!

I went thru 2 factory shafts. One went at 85& one went at 110ish. Both were factory steel. Had one built at Jackson Powertrain in Jackson,ms. That's 3 1/2" from yoke to yoke and upgraded to 1350 series yokes/joints. The factory shaft is .065 and the new one is .083 thick. Supposed to be able to handle 1000 hp. Been over 120 many times with no worries and no vibration.

I run a PST drive shaft in my Camaro. Its rated for 1000rwhp and its guaranteed never to fail. It was around 400 bucks and came with Spicer forged yoke and 1350 Spicer u joints. Smooth all the way to 175 mph too

Well the local driveshaft shop I am working with got back to me today and said that because I am a crew cab and the lenth of the drive shaft I am not going to be able to get a stronger aluminum one made. I was told that my only option is going to be a custom steel 2 piece. Was told it would cost about $700. What are all your thoughts?

That price is in line with local shops around here but as I said PST in FLA makes great shafts at a great price. Might be worth a call to compare. I think they're sold through a site sponsor here I just cant recall which one. Anyways heres a link

I would prefer to have to local shop complete all the work if possible because I am not sure how to get all the measurements needed to purchase one over the internet.
