Sorry but gm didnt make them the way they are for performance, they made it that way for emissions and so they are quiet

Is that maybe why you dont think your truck runs very well? Because you dont "buy in" to things that everyone buys and gets good "results" from?

They make intakes more restrictive because they feature little "resonators" that keep intake noise and valvetrain noise down. They have to deal with EPA regualtions and noise regulations and every truck that comes off the lot has to meet those standards. Thats why aftermarket intakes work......Worth $300? No. Worth $30? Yes. Which is why the home made intake works so well. Its cheap. Aftermarket CAI's are just a plastic tube and a cone filter. The tube is what needs replacing in the 2007+ trucks not the filter to a cone filter or anything. This setup will perform right with any aftermarket CAI.

Its not pretty by any means, but what does that matter right?
I wish i wouldnt have wasted $265 on a stupid K&N intake..

if you wanted it all prettied up i would have gotten some exhaust pipe and painted it black.

you can get the couplings and stuff from here... http://www.siliconeintakes.com/produ...757fc85d53d274

That makes a lot more sense than wraping PVC to prevent heat soak. I think exhaust pipe all polished or painted would look better I think. But its your truck

the $240 I spent on the S&B intake was well worth it, picked up power, sounds great, looks much nicer than the stock unit... It all depends on the persons budget really I think.

I bought an Airraid and it was worth the money. open filter and open tube. I agree with what everyone says, the stocks are build like that for a reason and performance is not in mind. The box off my truck fed from the fender well with two square ports about 2" wide and 3" tall. Kinda like sucking a golf ball thru a garden hose in my opinion... (lack the gay)
