Ive had an 01 and 06 and now a new body style 07 and I can say the 07 is MUCH better than the previous body style. The only thing I dont like is the damn rear seat rattle(crew cab) on rough *** roads but other than that I love it. The coil over front suspension rides much better than the torsion bar suspension.
Sorry but I totally disagree. Unlike a lot who complain I have more experience than probably half the members here that talk about them. Had a 2009 for 2 full years and 60000 miles of time, along with countless others from a fleet of about 100 of them since inception during 2007. I have zero desire to ever have another, and found nothing was superior or better in any way, shape or form. I will simply buy another brand when I can't find decent GMT800's anymore...... or once they get to be about 10 years old. That and I don't buy half ton trucks either so the whole rides smoother coilover stuff is moot.

However my experience is not here to debate about what I like personally. I am glad you enjoy your truck!

Continue on with the Denali debacle........

I'm glad my 6.2 doesn't have DOD, I've just always been curious why it's in the 5.3 and 6.2 SUVs but only the 5.3 in the trucks.

I've driven from a fleet of over a hundred GMT800 and 900 trucks (mostly 3/4-ton) myself and there are few things I prefer in the last-gen chassis.

As far as the Denali discussion, I think we've pretty much covered that. Lol.

What do you have against the 900s exactly? I will agree with you that the DOD/AFM is less than desirable, but I know plenty of people with higher mileage ones without any issues. I guess everyone has their own opinion, but I too have owned 800 and 900 trucks, as have many close friends/family members. The only 800 truck you could put me back in, would be an 06-07 w/ LBZ Duramax. I won't be going back to a 4 speed in a gasser...not a chance.

The four-speed is one of the buzz-kills for me as well, and I totally agree that an 06-07 Classic 2500 Duramax is the only 800 truck I would consider. As I said, I've also driven at least a hundred different trucks as well, on the road and way, way off, diesel and gas, 800 and 900, mostly 3/4-ton but some 1/2-ton, and the only thing I prefer about the 800 is the better factory tuning.
