guess I'm pretty lucky. I haven't had any issues with the paint on the handles peeling or anything like that, just the small dash crack. I removed my door moulding a few weeks after getting the truck, so no fading of the paint there.

I know this is an OLD *** thread but has anyone had a clue as to what is happening to the dashes cracking? I have always always used a sun shield in my truck from day one, no cracking at all. My boss comes to work today and tells me his dash in his fairly new Sierra cracked in 2 places... His truck is black and with black interior and I never saw him use a shield..... Sooo?

I don't know, I don't have the truck anymore in the original post, but I had black interior, never used a sunshade, the truck sat outdoors the entire time I owned it(almost 5 years) and it only had the one small about 1.5" long crack at the airbag corner. It never bothered me that much, in fact it was such a clean crack, that it almost looked like it was supposed to be there, almost like an expansion joint for concrete or brick.

Mine cracked in the same place. Any my clear coat is bubbling on the hood, roof, tops of the doors, and on top of the bed rails. Paint is also been absorbed at the tops of the side moldings. You kinda would expect better of a $35,000 truck.....

Mine is also cracked by the airbag, and is also peeling from the steering wheel. The steering wheel I don't mind, but the dash is starting to get to me.

You guys need to tell your girls to stop putting their feet up on the dash. No probs here with paint or mechanical issues, and just passed 70 k this weekend. Took a 3400 mile roundtrip excursion from DC to Texas to watch the LS1truck shootout. The truck performed flawlessly. And still no dash crack.....
