Any guesses what I did? It really is just cosmetic, but I like it.

I'll explain later today ....

Thanks!

Actually it's Line-X. They have a high-grade coating that is color matchable to your actual paint code, called Line-X XTRA. I was going to get a new primered piece from GM, because I like the looks of the ones that come on Z-71 trucks, but between buying it and having it painted it was getting up there in price. Plus, being down low like it is I knew it would get rock-chipped all to hell during elk season when I'm driving the back-woods logging roads. This is pretty heavily textured like all Line-X coatings, so it doesn't look EXACTLY like the surrounding paint but the color is right on. It cost $300 (ouch) but it should outlast any paint.

I actually like the textured look. Match is perfect and that will hold up 10x longer than if you painted it.

Hmm now to look at my truck and how I could do something like this

I hope your color matched Line-X holds up better than mine. I have a Line-X colormatched bedliner put in. It looks like crap now. Anywhere that has wear (like the tailgate) is greenish now instead of Silver.
