Default Cam Swap or Stall Converter?

2008 Sierra Denali, ls9 cam, 1 3/4 long tubes, full exhaust, tuned.

I'm not happy with the performance I have right now. Truck is doggy in 1st under 3k rpm and doesn't pull as hard as id like after about 60-70 mph. Trying to decide if I should swap to a different cam or put a 3200 stall in it. My mechanic says about $1000 for converter and install or 1300 for cam and install. Where will my money best be spent to get the performance I'm wanting?

Different cam if you ask me.

The LS9 cam is a terrible choice in a heavy truck compared to many others.

A 216/220 or 220/220 cam what be a much better choice.

Like said above, the LS9 cam is a horrible choice for a heavy application.

I have the tsp stage 3 truck cam and love it. If they had the stage 4 available at the time I would have bought that instead. What gears are in your truck? My wife's 2010 tahoe had stock 3.42's and I had the same complaint you had. I swapped them for 4.10s and its a completely different truck.

Any thoughts on the TSP 1.2 VVT cam? I know of one L92 Truck owner with this cam and long tubes that regularly tows. He likes it.

Depending on your budget, our superchargers are a nice simple installation that can increase upwards of 200+hp. Our supercharger starts building boost around 1800 rpms and carries steady through the rpms. The system for your truck is $3100. You will maintain stock drive ability and reliability.

Default Torque converter

Only a torque converter or gears can make up for the wrong cam...and the factory cam in an LS truck is the right one most often.
