Default Cam swap on a 4.8

Decent tax return coming in, so obviously it will be going to the truck. I want to drop a new cam in it, but not sure on which one. I was thinking a TSP 220R or 224R. I would prefer a little choppy idle. I want maximum power, but I won't be able to change converter just yet. Which would work better? Any other better options in the $200-400 range? Also which parts are musts for the install? I hear hardened pushrods and springs? I want to stay as low cost as possible, but not risk breaking anything.

im looking to do the same get on comp cam website and email will, im sure hes on this web site as well. tell him what u want to do and im sure he can direct u . ull need cam, pushrods, and springs. this was his reply to me and maybe it will help you . keep in mind this was ment for me and my needs. "I would want to use the 54-426-11 in this one. It will have a healthy idle sound, and will work well with your setup. You would need to change the springs and I would recommend pushrods as well. The springs would be a part number 26918-16 and the pushrods are a part number 7638-16. If there are more than 80,000 miles on those lifters, I would consider changing those while you are in there (850-16), but other than that, you should be good to go. We are not allowed to speculate, or even guess at the numbers and I don't have any dyno results on that cam, sorry. We do have a sound clip of it in a 5.7 here http://www.compcams.com/Base/MultiMe...XR275HR-12.wav and it will be quite a bit rougher in a 4.8. If you want me to push the envelope a little more just let me know, but that one is going to be the most fun to drive. If we put more sound in it, it will lose some of the excitement and would not work as well with the nitrous. Thanks "

and package deal you're looking 720 roughly no matter where u price it

How well its tuned plays a big part in how nice it drives. Heres a good comparo of various cams in 4.8's
