Default Cam phaser failure

I have a 08 6.0 bone stock showed up at the shop today and looked the truck over with a fine tooth comb NO ONE has been into the motor. It's hard to start, no start, and if you can get it started it runs terrible and will reset the dtc within a few seconds of engine runtime.
It sets PO 0016 CMP/CKP crank cam correlation code.

After going through it I am fairly positive the cam phaser failed and is retarding the cam causing the code. This is first time on these engines I've had one fail anyone have on head south on them yet.

Our gm books and alldata suck on diagnosing this particular code but gotta open up the timing cover to verify my thoughts.

Cam phaser failure. The phaser was stuck at full retard didn't dive into phaser itself real deep. Put on all the new parts and pitched the old one. Fired it up ran CKP relearn and all was well.
