Default Brakes

Is 60K miles early for the brakes to start making noise? I need to get them checked out, cause I honestly can't tell if its coming from the front disks or rear drums. But just a slow speeds like slowing down to a light or stop sign and creeping forward if in traffic, I am getting a low pitched squeel from the brakes.

Just seems that 60K miles doesn't seem like much. I guess I haven't kept a vehicle this long in a while, LOL.

From my experience the new body style trucks GMT900 front brakes last close to 100K. Rear shoes on the 1500 about 50K.

For sure but I know mine usually squeal when cold and slow, after a bit of driving (1 or 2 stops) they are ok..GM has a second style pad to address this I think but not worth the hassles as truck is out of warranty now, not a big deal.

If the noise happens all the time, you could try slow speed and slowly put on e-brake, that will tell you if its front or back making the noise.

There really is no way to put a firm mileage number on brake wear or noise, a lot depends on the driver IMHO.
