Default Bad Lifters In My VMax

I took my 08 VMax in today to get some warranty stuff looked at.

They are going to replace the lifters, replace the steering rack, and do an alignment. The truck only has 3800 miles on it and needs all of this work already.

Does it have variable lift or DOD? Ask them if they can shave the heads a little when they are in there

It has both VVT and AFM.

I wish that they'd shave the heads...

Consider yourself lucky. I have taken mine in twice for steering rack leaks and they say its normal.

That's crazy. How can a leak be "normal"? Mine was leaving spots on the garage floor and the rack on the driver's side was wet.

The sited some TSB that said "seepage" from the same area was due to assembly pre fill and was normal. I have the same leak as you, driver side, leaves spots, etc. I have taken it twice and showed them the receeding fluid level and all and they still say no. I am going to try another dealer or wait until the low fluid level smokes the PS pump

Seepage dosen't drip on the floor...

Hopefully the other dealer will take care of you.

Vortech,

Can you describe your lifter noise? My truck would occasionally make a piston slap sound when starting in sub 40 deg weather (doesn't happen much here). This weekend, it started clacking on startup when the engine has sat for 12+ hours. Sounds like the lifters are bleeding down
