Default available cams for 6.2L sierra

I want to know what cam is available for my truck? I want a good lope and great performance. I don't tow anything or play in the mud. It is lifted 3 inches and has 33" tires on 18" wheels. I have 3.42 gears....only ones avail. last year with the 6.2L....anyway if I changed the converter I know it would help realize the full potential of the cam, but I don't want to hurt the truck in anyway. So....what would some of you other guys do....I usually lean more to the aggressive side of conservative

are you gonna regear? 3:73/4:10s?
are you gonna do a converter?
whats your goals? hp goal? are you a roll racer? track?
226/232 .600.600 112+2 would do well with a 3:73/4:10 gear an a 3200 stall

If you want to keep VVT tuning is super important, you can find horror stories of folks who kept VVT just couldn't find anyone to "properly tune" after the new CAM install... Good read here http://www.hotrod.com/techarticles/e...s_engines.html

This is the only shop that I know of that "understands" how to tune VVT besides Pat G http://www.engpwrsys.com/index.php?act=viewCat&catId=29

I like the Stage 2 CAM, COMP claims Substantial power and torque gains across the board...http://www.compcams.com/Technical/Ca.../pdf/page9.pdf

Agreed, him or Geoff at EPS are great people to work with, that will help you match a cam to your specific application.

Can you get spec'd "VVT" CAM's already?

I'm sure you can, but you're still going to have to live within the constraints of the VVT limitations.

The difference between spec'ing a cam and matching a cam is sometimes pretty negligible; the four cams Geoff has on his site range from 212 to 222 degrees of intake duration...is there really going to be a huge benefit from spec'ing one out with 223.5 degrees? It's not like we're all racing our trucks in prostock and every last horsepower counts.

Is a 70hp gain up top with zero bottom end loss really considered a limitation? LOL... EPS/Geoff VVT CAM's are the EXACT same specs as COMP's L92 VVT CAM's...

It's hard to say zero bottom end loss when we don't have any data under 3500...I didn't mean 'limitations' like a vvt motor is only going to make half as much power as a non-vvt one, but you're still going to have a smaller number of cams to choose from, and possible issues with both PTV clearance (addressed mostly by the vvt phasers) and valvetrain issues with constantly changing valve events (will the valvetrain of a motor with constantly changing valve timing have the same longevity as one without? I don't know; probably not an issue on a street motor, but it still bears consideration).

I didn't mean Geoff is the end all when it comes to vvt and cam design; maybe he uses his own lobes for vvt cams, maybe not, I can't speak for him, but I'm happy with the cam he ground for me, as well as the dialogue we've shared which is why I brought him up.

Geoff has his own lobes no one else in the market will cut a cam on his lobes unless he says to. simple as that.
Pat G/ Geoff at EPS both great guys an will help in any way possible.
my friend went through Pat G for a custom cam, an Pat G reommended the EPS lobes.
