Default Anyone on here from Mexico?

Anyone on here that is actually in Mexico? I understand that the GMT 900 trucks down there can have a 5 speed manual trans in them and i want to get the correct GM parts to do the swap.. I have an auto.. and have finally decided that i want the 5 speed.. After driving an RST truck this weekend i decided that i want to do the swap and that is final.. But i dont want to end up with a hack job.. I want factory clean installation

So in short i am looking for someone who may be able to do a little footwork in Mexico for me.. Maybe see how much the parts would be from a dealership and perhaps even buy them and ship them to me??

PM me or shoot me an email at ig109@cummins.com

Thanks

Email gets checked more often.

IF you check the "A4 to T56 swap" thread, towards the last few pages a member on here has done the T56 swap using a 5-speed crossmember from those GMT900 trucks in Mexico. Can't remember how he got the part, but check it out.

I actually got in contact with the parts guy at a dealer in Mexico. They are willing to order and send the parts.. They are high as a kite tho.. So expensive in fact that i dont think they have the right prices or perhaps the incorrect part numbers.. I am going to see if i can get him to send me a PDF parts catalog or something to ensure that we are on the same page.. According to him the top plastic piece on the column is like 160.00 us dollars!! i need that, the pedal, the crossmember, and the line to the slave.. anything else i can manage myself..

If you go to the mexico gmc site they have a pic up of one with the 5 speed in the specifications section.. hold on and i will try to get a pic...

Well its from the Chevrolet site.. and there are "ghost" airbags deployed but you can see the stick shift poking thru the floor.. but i cant see well enough to tell if the stalk hole has a plug in it or if it has a different cover alltogether.. But this is proof that they do make them.. and the dealer says so too...

according to Wiki:

'As of 2008 General Motors full size trucks are no longer sold in United States and Canada with manual transmissions, they are only offered in Mexico in the Silverado 1500 V6 engine and Silverado 3500.'

That would lead me to believe that It could be done using V6 parts.

So you just want the interior trim parts to do the swap?

Essentially.. I mainly want the column top cover without the shifter hole.. I want the correct pedal.. I know that the GMT800 pedal will work but i want it to be correct.. I also want the correct line to the slave and possibly the crossmember... I can salvage the rest.. I want the swap to be factory clean.. Like it is meant to be there..
