6l80e to 4l80e conversion
#14
I know you have a 4wd, but I am doing a 6l80e to 4l80e swap in a 2wd NNBS, and thought I'd share my experience so far. The crossmember is about 4" off, so I modified it the traditional way, cutting into 3 pcs weld in plate to make it longer.
Also, I was able to use the 6l80e shift cable with the shift arm, it all lines up perfectly, but when I shifted through the gears and counted the detents, all I got was PRND.

Ok thanks! Three6gmc is doing it in a 4x4 and his crossmember is only about An inch off but the only prnd kinda kills it...I was hoping to be able to shift down to lower gears on it... But thanks let me know how it is when you get it done!

Well nothing is impossible if you want it badly enough. Ill bet you could swap some parts up in the steering column with a 4l60e truck if you wanted to make it work like OE. I think Byrdman11 used some OE parts and came up with something that worked.

Has anyone ever done this 6l80 to a 4l80 swap and has it done and knows what's needed for that? I mean it'll still drive and everything just be stuck in drive which is fine just sucks for the roll races!

You could just tune it so with tow/haul mode engaged it holds a certain gear (say 2nd) until a high RPM for a "roll racing" scenario, and it shifts normally in regular mode. That's kinda my plan anyhow.
