On a separate note, you can look on Kinney's Mufflers website you can see a number of videos with sounds and how the systems are configured and installed.

This video shows how they cut the oe y pipe and ran 2 pipes to the muffler, nice job.

You could do that with a Magnaflow dual in/dual out with an internal x, or weld in an x in front of the muffler and make custom tail pipes.

The trouble with the 6.2 and 3.5 inch tubing is that not many shops have tooling to
bend or expand 3.5.

The video was the biggest help. Now I see how and where they cut the OE Y pipe I may just show it to the shop who always does my exhaust and see what he can do for me. He does beautiful work but wasn't too receptive about running duals on it when I talked to him the truck. Right now it's at the shop getting tuned I should have it back in the next few days or weeks. I'm letting them work on it as a filler job as I'm not in any hurry for the truck I hardly ever drive it. I drive my company truck everywhere.

I've had the dual in out magnaflows on several trucks and have been very impressed with sound and no drone factor but they were the largest case ones they made. I think I'm going to try running the middle sized magnaflow 12468 dual in and out I've had their larger cased ones and they are on the verge of too quiet. I've got a burr up my *** for a rowdy exhaust again. Just dont want to have to deal with drone though Hope I don't regret it.

As an FYI, I have spoken to both Magnaflow and Flo-Pro about dual in/dual out offerings and was surprised at the rated cfm flow numbers. Flo-Pro has a 3.5" single in/3.5" single out that outflows their dual 3" in/ dual 2.5" out by almost 200cfm. I believe it was rated slightly above 1200 cfm while all their dual in/dual out offerings were slightly over 1000 cfm. I'm not a muffler engineer but just guessing that turbulence inside the muffler from dual in/out causes a bit more backpressure while the 3.5" in/out is a more streamlined flow.

On the Stainless Works exhaust the system is available with a "factory connection" that is a single 3.5" connection without the 3rd cat that bolts to factory ORY. It splits after the connection into twin 2.5" mandrel pipe with either the S-Tube mufflers or their Chambered Turbo Muffler. The S-Tube are the louder of the two and IMO sounds a little raspier which I like. With headers and no cats I expect the S-Tube could be too loud for some. A friend has the S-Tube mufflers on his 2010 Caddy CTS-V and it sounds Bad A$$.

Good Luck with your install and please post a link to install thread.

You betcha I'll put some pics up. I'm hoping to have the truck back soon from getting tuned then it's on like donkey kong.

How would a set of magnapacks and a Xpipe sound in place of a dual dual magnaflow you think.

If it is sound quantity you want , put some longtubes and h/flow cats and leave the rest
as is.
Headers make a huge difference in the sound of the 6.2

Want some opinions my exhaust guy want's to do 3" true duals for max flow. I think 2.5 true duals is what it needs so I do not kill exhaust velocity under normal driving conditions and cause the dang thing to be doggy.

Thought's ideas and keeping OE cats or am I over complicating it.

Dont worry about exh velocity killing your bottom end etc. thats fairly unfounded, if your tune is dialed in right? You wont lose much down low with the bigger pipes. Certainly not enough to make any real difference. The sound of dual 3" will be a lot louder though so theres not a lot of sense stuffing big pipes on with restrictive muffs to quiet it down. Dual 2.5 will likely be fine

Check this for exh flow info out. Post 13 etc. Lots of reading here, but it'll answer whatever you want to know

I know you said you didn't want headers, but, man I hope to make my truck sound exactly like this one at some point!
