Simply awesome. A bolt on 6.2 puts down the same power as a cammed 6.0

I'm looking at buying a 2011 6.2 Silverado to replace my 2009 5.3 with 14, 800 miles. Today I test drove a 6.2 and was not impressed however I know that with break-in my 5.3 performs better now than when new. I've been reading everything I can find today to figure out the lack of performance I experienced on my test drive of the 6.2 and thought maybe it's the octane. Now I see your numbers comparing results of 87 vs 93 octane and it basically doesn't justify paying $.30 more per gallon for 7hp/7tq.

I don't plan to mod the truck until warranty expires so wondering if 6.2 is really that much better (more power) than 5.3 stock with regular 87 octane unleaded???

I figured it would be more of a difference...

The 6.2 needs a tune and then they come alive

^^^^^ if he tunes for 87 octane, he still has 370 hp and 389 tq, still sounds good to me for a bolt on truck! That's a hell of a start over other trucks! After a cam and stall it will be a monster. There are several guys running high to mid 12's on NA 6.2's. How can you beat that for a DD? I'd go for a 6.2 over a 5.3 any day.
