Being as both trucks are CAN BUS systems probably. The high speed LAN system should still talk correctly and the Low speed bus should also function for data transfer to instrument cluster, ABS etc should still talk so all of your gauges will work. The only wildcard could be the TCM if you are a 6L80 but that can be solved by swapping in the newer TCM. You will have to use the newer PCM no matter what. Your stock fuel system is the same as the newer trucks provided the PCM will still talk to your older style FPCM. You'll also have to use or adapt your front accessories somehow since the newer trucks don't have a power steering pump.
In all honesty theres no way to know for sure until someone pulls the trigger and tries it. GM being GM I got money that it will probably work through the years they have been pretty good about keeping stuff where it will work if you know how to fanagle it around to make it work. I've been cross bastardizing and inbreeding gm computer systems since 1987 in project vehicles and that's generally what I've found to be the case.
Someone want to donate a 6.2 I'll use my truck as a mule and let you know end result.....
