Whats the easiest way to get 400 hp out of the 5.3?
Mine is a 2010 and has dod if that matters...

Why didn't you buy a 6.2? That's definitely the easiest way.

 

6.2 stock isnt 400rwhp

skipperdaddy has: 5.3/6spd CCSB, roush tvs1900, pat g spec'd cam, LTs/OR-y, Truckshop tune 522rwhp

if you want crank, which is all your gunna get out of a 5.3 unless you blow it or spray, p&p heads, balance and blueprint block and crank, big cam, usual stuff.

if you want "flywheel hp" you can do a cam/ud crank pulley/tune/LTs/OR-y/Exhaust/CAI and make 330-340rwhp which times that by 25% is 412-420 flywheel hp

so either you want rwhp or flywheel hp....

 

honesty... who cares about crank hp?! Just sayin. Surely the OP doesnt car about that?!

 

understood but when someone says "400hp out of a 5.3" is a lot harder to do vs being on Nitrous, Supercharger, Turbo. ive never seen a N/A 5.3 make 400 rwhp but then again i dont know crap so


if i had to do it over, id do a front mount turbo, with a spec'd cam
6k in my swap including all the mods and tuning vs 6k for front mount thats gonna make 500+hp
