Default 4wd Engine Harness Work with a 2wd?

Ok..So here is a run down of what I have going on.

I specd out all the parts to swap my trans from a weak 4l60e to a 6l90e in my rcsb nnbs silverado... However I went to order the wiring harness today from the dealer.. And they inform me after giving the part number a week ago, that there is no stock on the part (or 3 others that would of worked for that matter) and there is no telling when or if they would get one in if i placed an order. Talk about timing.. Since after I got all the stuff together from them last week I pulled the trigger and bought a 2500 6l90e 2wd trans. So now I have a trans.. And no harness to run it with.

I have found a harness that is for a truck pretty much just like mine at a local parts place.... Only catch is that it is a 4wd... Now I am thinking.. that i could get this one and just not hook up the 4wd pigtail, or jump the connctors or something to make it think 2wd always?? I know other auto manufacturers make wiring harnesses with everything baked into them and its all the same part.. Like if you have a 2wd.. You have a 4wd harness its just not hooked up since you dont have 4wd.. Any thoughts? Would it work without information center messages? Thanks.

Ok Thanks. Makes me feel better..Sure enough for me to buy it tomorrow?? My luck someone will ****** it up and ill have another scavenger hunt on my hands.

So will anyone second? And if so.. All in favor please say Aye!

As a side note.. What happens if a harness goes bad??? You’re without your vehicle for however long until the hobbits trek across middle earth with it or what? Who ever heard of such ridiculous stuff??
