Sorry, my truck is a 2wd. When the 4l60 was pulled out and set next to 4l80 they seem the same length but 4l80 mount was back more by 6 1/2 inches or so. For sake of time and money we just mounted cross member on back flanges versus in between and weld a 1 inch angle plate for mount. I eventually picked up a custom tube mount at a Fab shop for $160, seems it's a popular item. I think cross member same on 2500 but mounting tabs are further back but could be wrong as I never looked at a suburban.

Also bought lower flywheel dust cover from express van to cover convertor from salvage $75.

I was told by many swapping to 4l80 my horsepower would drop because of weight and gears. Honestly my #s jumped up because trans didn't slip and 1st gear imo is very quick. I have to control gas pedal or it will break traction every time, definitely a lot more fun and I'm confident it would grenade like the 60 and 70 I had in it before.

When I did my swap, I had 4.56s. That suuuucked on the interstate.

I ended up having them swapped to 3.90s and imo, it's perfect. I cruise at 80 and about 2800rpms or so. With the 4.56s, it was closer to 3500rpms.

The crossmembers from the 2500 trucks will not work.. I have a direct crossmember for the swap.

Anyone have info doing this swap on 4wd? Can I keep my xfer case? Do I get a 4L80e torque converter? Are other mods needed? Bolts match? Gear swap? And how does the driveline front and rear differ?

bahahaha

this question is old as time. Here is a quick run down, but this has literally been covered on every corner of the internet:

-You need the cross member mod plates (requires welding), or a vendor's cross member
-Shorter rear shaft, longer shaft
-You can get 30 spline inputs for your case, no problem, but your case is not a direct swap
-4L80 converter or a circle d conversion converter
-Segment swap with harness repin
-Bolts line up, bell housing and t case
-Gear swap not necessary
-Cooling lines differ, easy to modify
-gear selector is the same
-need a 4l80 dipstick tube
-dipsticks are the same 60-80
