you know a brand new set from the dealer is about 600$ right?.. u can get a used set and have them lapped that would save you a good bit!

Tell us more about your experience with the Yukon gears please.
Did you do the install yourself? How did it go?

i didnt install them alone, i had a tech help me.

i pressed my old bearing off of my 3:42 pinion. reused that shim pack on my 4:10 pinion. you put the new seal and pinion nut on but not too tight or you'll preload the pinion bearings too much and wear them out. i couldnt reuse my stock shims so i had to use a digital caliper to get the thickness of the stock shims. we started off adding .050" to the passenger side and taking away .050" from the drivers side. that moves the locker to the left, for those who dont know what im talking about. it had a descent backlash, so we checked it, i had .050" backlash. GM calls for .030"-.090" so we went with .050" to be safe. i think i coupd have gotten away with .060" and id be happier but oh well. i drove it for 30-40min let it sit for 1.5hrs then drove home at 70mph. i then put a few more miles on it and got in a 55-100 punch off with a 6.2/6spd camaro SS. no problems and no metal flakes or bad wear, so i feel its ok
i went to the track with 400 miles on the new rear end lol

Thanks Man!
I still do not know if i want to do it myself. I do engine builds and such - but transmissions and axles i stay away from!

i have the 3:73 and i love them with my setup.. plus its my dd... i paid like 7 bills for my parts alone brand new eaton posi with gears and i bought the bearings because my truck had 40k miles on it plus the fluids etc... they only charge me $150 to installed them... but when they took my differential apart i had some broken race/bearing... so thank god i put new bearings kit... i was doing burnouts on my 24's plus i was doing donuts so thats my fault....

I'm doing 4.11s in my truck. Just installed M/T wheels 20x9" with 275/60/20 tires.
Have stock 3.23s with that set up and it blows!
This weekend i will be doing a motive 4.11s with the install kit, less bearings (only have 3,000 miles on truck) It cost about 260$ shipped from Jawsgears for the rear only. Will do going the IFS before winter gets here. They are a Sponsor - fash shipping.

Should be 2200-2300 at 74mph with 33.5" tires. I would have done 4.56s but i would like to have some gas milage.
