I can install them as well. However, I want them to last 100K + miles.

I work at a rearend shop and we charge 250 labor for rear and 300 labor for a front end.

i only paid 100 and LEARNED how to do it. so yeah ill start to do my own gear swap/diff swap. if you know how to set it up, then do it. save some cash and get a Tru-Trac while you are at it.

i pressed my own bearing off my 3:42 pinon gear and used those shims. i think pressed a new bearing on to the pinon and set it the pinon up with new bearings and a seal. i think checked the shims to set the carrier gear wear, and the back lash. then finished it up.

Thread Back from the dead.
I am also intrested in doing this, what brands of gears are for out truck? Front and rear.
I'm a little concerned about changing out the front gears...

they come in all price ranges, from cheapo to quality gears, just depends on what your wanting to spend.

im running Yukon gears. i like them, but im not going to reuse them. if i ever upgrade to a factory offered gear then id go with OEM gears. no noise at all
