Default 2012 yukon denali awd dod delete, cam, converter

would it be easier to do the DOD delete with engine still in truck and then drop transmission/transfer case to install converter, or just pull the engine out to do both?

Imo it would be easiest to leave the trans and pull the motor completely....what cam/converter are you going with?? Im doing something similar....swapping a 6.2 in a 2013 Avalanche, havent decided on cam or converter yet...

I'd just yank the whole motor.

Then you can also remove the oil pressure relief in the oil pan while you're at it.

ok, that is which way i was leaning...pull the whole thing, work it on a stand. Been a while since i rebuilt an engine, wasnt really looking forward to leaning over fenders for 2-3 days.

218/228 .600/.600 113lsa VVT cam, circle D 278mm 3k

oil pressure relief....? got any good links to removing *** nevermind, looks like it's just as it sounds lol, a threaded relief valve, take it out put in a plug

I would assume the VVT cam could handle the extra oil pressure but I know they kept it lower with the AFM/DoD parts.

Not to sure, looks like the afm is definitely reliant on it, vvt should be fine as long as oil pressure doesn't go crazy 100+ psi. The engine was just replaced by gm under warranty a few months ago, at idle by the dash gauge it only shows 25-30psi.

I just done a build similar on my 2010 escalade. Forged pistons/rods, DOD delete, (kept the vvt), mild ported heads, custom grind cam, speed engineering 1-7/8'' headers/no cats to stock muffler. I wanted to keep the stock convertor.

It sounds VERY good!! I dropped it off for tuning this afternoon.

nice man, any build pics? I bought the same headers/ypipe how did they fit (awd?) and plan on using stock muffler from there back too.
I wanted to get the heads CNC'd but that got the axe as the costs started adding up. I am throwing it back together with head studs, ls9 gaskets, hardened pushrods, pac 1219x springs, and ls3 valves ... at some point it may get a little boost just not sure when or how.

I was pretty much set on regearing to 4.11s to get it moving a little easier although the 3.42/6l80 combo works good for me. when I realized the stock one flashes at 1600rpm i figured swapping it out would help just as well. circle d talked me out of a smaller single/multi disk said the larger one would have better part throttle response

For the money the headers CAN'T be beat! There a little tight on the driver side but are fine. Make sure your motor mounts are good. I had 1 bad one so, I just replaced both. I had to do some fab work to make the factory connection work (no big deal). Mine is AWD as well. I built mine with boost in mind down the road also.

Ya'll not worried about tuning with boost and VVT? I want to boost mine too but I'll wait until I find a deal on a Procharger or LSA. So in my mind I'll wait until I figure out what type of boost I'm going with before I cam it.

So my question is do you thing a VVT cam can go with either types of boost. If so I would cam it now for alittle bit of bump in power.
