modern gauges are more like old school idiot lights. Without hooking up a mechanical gauge who knows what the hell it really is. they seem to have lots of offset in actual readings versus displayed on cluster for some friggin reason.

Is this a DoD engine? If so most of the oil pressure is being bled off into the Valley Cover. While GM tried their best to build the bottom end tight to retain pressure, they couldn't restrict the top end enough to keep the pressure at idle above what it is. Be careful with heavier oils. Too heavy can reek havoc upon those stupid AFM lifters.

P.S. If you check pressure at the filter you'd see 45-80psi depending on driving conditions, RPM, temp, etc.

Yes it is a AFM engine
How do you check with a mechanical gauge?

Uhhhhh...... There's a special GM gauge that bolts to the pans oil cooler block off if memory serves me correctly. You have nothing to worry about so long as you are nice to it when it is cold.

If it keeps bugging you, cam it and do a DoD delete ;D

My 2011Crew is doing the same thing with the oil pressure. Is the consensus that this is normal? Wondering if there was anymore info on this?

My 6.2 has never done this. I always have about 50 psi idle.
