Well, started having problems at 400 miles. She now has just a hair over 2k miles and still having an issue off and on. At 400 miles, the truck smoked HEAVILY every time I started it...not just cold starts either. It stopped after 4 times of doing it.
Started doing it again around 1800 miles off and on random times I would start it. Now, when it smokes, it struggles to get above 500 rpms for about 5 solid seconds while smoking and trying to find idle. Doesn't smell like burning oil, (i already changed the oil at 2k miles), or pig rich, and the smoke is a white/dark gray color like fuel maybe.
It runs fine otherwise and has tons of power after its initial start.
Anywho, anyone else had issues? Know what it might be? Im not too worried...its going to the dealer now and has a warranty considering its still bone stock. If its something major, guess the camaro will get a rebuilt, forged 6.2 haha.

Any codes? An issue like that would certainly throw a code, especially if its fuel related.
Does the exhaust smell sweet at all?

Just rolled over with 4k miles and no issues, I've never heard of any issues like this with the 6.2. Its good that this happened now, not after you voided the warranty with a lot of mods...

Thats strange never heard of such a thing happening but then again my truck when I first turn it on it sounds like it knocks for about a second then goes away. I imagine cuz all the oil hasnt reached all the parts of the engine yet. But I have had several other GM trucks and never had this problem. Maybe your 6.2 is just one of those engines that didnt get built exactly to spec and is a little off some where. Anyways post up when you hear what the dealer tells you...

my truck did that **** once or twice too when I first got it, it was a demo and it had 2k on the odometer... but I have a 5.3.
I have about 10k on it now and I have not seen it do it again in like 6000 miles...

Ok; Didn't throw any codes what-so-ever.
After checking the service bulletins, apparently some 6.2 motors have "overly aggressive lifters" or some crap and of course the usual GM oil consumption issues...just like my LS1. Haven't picked the truck up yet but got a call that its ready.
PCV replacement, Valve Cover, Lifters, something else minor....those are what there are some bulletins out for.
They had to change my A/C Blower motor (unrelated obviously haha) cause it was ticking a bit and it wasn't "balanced". Also, my buddy whose my service writer (nice to have friends at dealerships) said that they had to replace a valve cover with one that is redesigned. I'll find out more when I'm there in person...stay tuned...

Just picked it up and it runs great so far...doesn't mean it won't act up again but we will see!
The valve cover has a new design that prevents oil from sucking up into the pcv system which can be a cause for what my truck is doing. The valve cover on driver's side has the PCV system at the rear (or front depending on how you look at it) side closest towards the firewall. There is a metal plate ("baffle") that is supposed to go in front of the PCV intake to prevent oil from being sucked in; however some models do not have the extended plate on the valve cover and it only partially covers the PCV.
This is step 1 and hopefully is the fix...we shall see!
