The U0109 code was due to some of the factory wiring being tight, and when i would push down the parking brake it was messing with the electrical connectors. Wiring has been repositioned and has been fine.

The smoke started again two days ago at around 5400 miles. I dont know what the hell to think. Not too happy to know that the truck is prolly going to be going in and sitting for a few days. I REALLY won't be happy if they have to pull the heads and do some major work. Guess the Z28 will be getting driven for a while

Well damnit man, if it wasn't for bad luck you wouldn't have any luck at all. When it was in before did they replace the oil manifold(valley cover) or install the oil deflector in the pan? Are you seeing any oil loss on the dip stick?

They replaced the valve cover or valley cover...I thought it was valve cover though. Haven't said anything about the oil deflector.

They did say that it might be over-aggresive lifters and that they will be changing them out if needbe. Sucks to have that much work done this early in the game if they replace the lifters. If it was my playtoy I wouldn't mind cause I could have them throw in a cam and ported heads while they are at it but damnit its just my daily driver and I don't want to have any more issues!!! I shouldn't have any considering its bone stock!!!

I was under the impression they replaced the lifters on the last trip? The deflector allegedly prevents the oil pressure relief valve in the pan from spraying the cylinder wall above and gumming up the piston rings. Stuck rings can lead to loss of compression, missfires, and oil consumption.

As for the covers it was probably the valve cover they replaced but a faulty valley cover can also lead to oil problems if it isnt sealing properly.

Knock on wood so far mine has been ok. I have been keeping an eye on the oil levels and all is well.

I know I never updated this a while back but it did turn out to be "over-aggressive" lifters...however the hell that happens. I was pissed when I had to pick it up and the head had been pulled. Now I have a windshield noise from the plastic/rubber pieces on the edge of my windshield.

I love my GMT900 so much but REALLY GM?!? I shouldn't of had these issues period, let alone within 1 year of owning a brand spanking new 50k dollar truck that I am **** about caring for even though its my daily driver.

Over aggressive lifters....

Ive heard some deusey's before but this ones champ! What exactly does that translate too GM?

"Well.... we have these poorly machined lifters that allow too much oil to bypass so they pump up and squirt the goop everywhere they aren't supposed too and it sort of fills the head up with too much oil and bathes the valve seals in fluid so the oil runs down into the cylinders and well really and truthfully its just good old school engine protection as you cant have too much oil in there hahaha you know like engine storage fog spray? Think of that on a regular basis its truly remarkable and am I ever glad you brought your truck in to remind us of this because we forgot to charge you the $365.00 engine protection oil spray package so can I have your credit card please sir?"

All jokes aside **** happens dont let it ruin your enjoyment of a ballin truck. The best sled I ever had blew the engine three times before Skidoo got it right. Drive it like you stole it I say so if theres a problem? Its shows up during warranty period

My 90 GMC 5.7L went to 509k KMs and it still ran like a champ when I sold it and every single day it was floored to the boards. Babying doesnt do anything but prolong a potential weak point. Just my two cents is all
