Default 2008 silverado swap???

before anyone says it..... i know i mispelled "silverado" in my name thing i was drunk when i wrote it lol

i have an 08 silverado with a 4.8, i got some money to spend from my deployment and wanted to do a 6.0 swap for towing purposes. i will be retaining my stock heads (for now). will an lq9 from an older truck work? an old timer here locally has a lq shortblock from an ss with like 2k miles wants 400 i think. will it bolt up to my newer style truck or would i be better off doing an ly6 swap instead? will i have any ptv issues being that the 4.8 heads and smaller? will my headers fit? will i need to do any other mods if say i did an l92 block instead? i have an 80e that i will be using aswell. just wondering about the engine blocks i know the 4th gen differ from the ol ones.

sorry about the newb ?'s iv been a 350 guy all my life just trying to school myself on the ls1 type stuff. looked everywhere but couldnt find what i needed. any help is greatly appreciated....

You want to use the LY6 or L92. You would do good to just use the L92 heads as well. They flow much more than the 4.8/5.3 or 6.0 heads. This will require you to use the new style intake with rectangle ports as well.

There has been few 4l80e and one or two 6l80e swaps on this forum.

Try to find an LY6 takeout. It will make your life way easier than trying to piece together an engine.
