2008 Silverado - Hyperflash, Pass side only w/ lights off
#1
I am battling an issue with hyperflash after installing some LED switchback turn signals. I also have LED headlights installed. Here is my issue....
I am getting hyperflash from the passenger side only, but only with the headlights off. If I turn on the fogs, parking lights and/or headlights I get no hyperflash. On the driver's side I am getting no hyper flash at all. They function properly whether the headlights, parking lights, etc are on or off.
Both sides are wired exactly the same with two 50w/6ohm resistors per side since I have two turn signal bulbs per headlight. The bulbs are GTR Lighting Armor Series switchbacks.
Any ideas why I am only getting hyper flash from the passenger side and only with the lights off?

I believe Hyperflash occurs when a thermal flasher does not heat up enough to cause it to switch. I tried a solid-state flasher once, but I hated it. The flash timing was not the same and the artificial click sound drove me crazy.
The resistors you have should work... obviously one of them does. I'd bet the one resistor isn't making a good connection. Otherwise, I would try removing the ground wire to the frame on both sides, spot sand the frame & wire, and tighten it back. If that doesn't work, try replacing or swapping the resistors.

I'm thinking that either both or one of the resistors is bad since I have to have two per headlight. The two on the driver's side get much hotter than the passenger.
I didn't ground the resistor to the body or frame. I have one wire connected to the blue/white flasher wire and the other to the ground wire. It's wired exactly the same way on the driver's side which is working perfectly.
I'm waiting to hear back from where I bought the resistors to see if they will send me replacements to see if that is indeed the problem. I thought I read somewhere that when the headlights are off, it's not drawing enough power but when the headlights and/or parking lights are on, there is enough current draw to not cause hyper flash.
