Default 1 5/8 or 1 3/4 on a L76?

Well I made a mistake 2 weeks ago. I ordered a set of 4.8/5.3/6.0 OBX headers for my 07 GMC. Originally it was a 5.3 but I dropped an L76 in with a cam. I never did my research about the headers from the 6.2 being 1 3/4 with 3" collectors, the ad just said the 6.2 headers don't fit the 5.3/6.0 trucks. So I didn't think twice and ordered what I got in the mail yesterday. Now is it going to be a waste putting these 1 5/8 with a 2.5" collector on? Should I try sell them and order the 1 3/4"?

I did a few searches but never found the answer I was looking for.

I'm new to pt.net, I've been a member on sss.com for many years. Sold the SS last fall and picked up a NNBS.

^ this. i had 1 7/8 kooks with their 3"x pipe on my g8. worked great with the 230/236 .590/.600 cam that was in it... In my opinion 1 5/8" is just too small for a motor with L92 style heads

Ya cam is a 223/231 610/617. Really don't want to spend well over $1000 on headers. I don't keep my vehicles long enough to be worth it to me. Plan is this motor will make its way into my 70 GTO after its been through the paint booth.

Thanks for the info everyone, I had figured I was going to need bigger. Not sure I will be able to PM with only 2 posts, but I'll try send a message to Roger tomorrow.

Yes the L76 is a 6.0. It's the vortec max motor. I ordered the 4.8/5.3/6.0 headers. Little did I know the difference between them and the 6.2 headers from obx is the size.
