That is the only way it makes sense. I thought I remembered reading on the GMC website that VVT operated only on the exhaust but that actually was for the Envoy with the 4.2L. The VVT on the 6.2 changes both since it is only one cam.

6.2 AND the 6.0.

I have heard Dodge's single cam-in-block MDS design varies the intake and exhaust independantly on the their new MDS engines. I read that they have a 2-piece cam with a hollow outer shaft for one set of lobes and a solid inner shaft for the other set of lobes. Not sure how exactly they are constructed, but it sounds a little scary to me.
