Nice setup, I've got similar plans for my CC, just with slightly smaller cam and no head work. You gonna be taking the DOD out too?

LS7 lifters
LS7 lifter trays
LS2 Damper
181.00 shipped to my house from SDPC
head gaskets from the dealer are like 60.00
ARP head bolts from Thunder Racing is 110.00 with taxes
depending your mileage you can part together a timing cover gasket, water pump gaskets, front seal.
buy an oil pump pick up tube o-ring so thats a safety imo. its color coded too.

reuse your intake gaskets, your valve cover gaskets...they dont go bad like youd think.

you have to pull the heads so you can change the lifters.

Bumpers: honestly i have no idea...imma let my machinist deal with that.

i will be watching this... how much does it usually run to get head milled and p&p

iamkeniff 02-16-2010 06:38 PM

depends your market
its costing me 50 a head to deck it then mill it w.e to make 10:5:1-11:1
p&p is unknown...we'll see

the cam may go bigger, who knows.

also when i upgrade trannys my Circle D will be sold to fund the new Billet cover stall :)
unless Chris @ Circle D will cut me a deal on a trade in maybe

Bumpers 02-17-2010 01:02 PM

i just wish i knew around here who could do that sort of stuff... i will keep asking questions and find out thanx for the help fella

why are you swaping out the dampener, are you changing accessories?
why are you pulling the oil pump ?

iamkeniff 02-17-2010 04:41 PM

to change the dampner to the LS2 style you have to pull the oil pump.
i seen a stock one broke on my friends cammed 6.0...id rather take the time to change it an not have the problem like my friend.
25.00 vs god knows how much to fix it

I don't have enough fingers and toes for the cam swaps that I've done with no issues, and breaking or cracking the stock pulley.

I've yet to see or read about anyone breaking the dampener

That's a big gamble to mess with the oil pump when you're just swaping the dampener.

What's the difference in the stock oil pump vs the LS2 style?

iamkeniff 02-17-2010 06:06 PM

???? the "damper" is the timing chain tensioner its called a damper on the GM parts log.
you have to pull the oil pump to get the old style tensioner out an to put in the new wedge style.

iamkeniff 02-17-2010 06:14 PM

Something easy to do while you still have it apart. Take that crappy spring loaded chain tensioner and toss it in the dumpster. Thats all its good for. It will FAIL. Trust me. Then replace it with GM #12588670. It will last and save your motor..

ahh . . . now I now I see what you're talking about.

I've never heard it called that before. . . . usually when someone says dampener they're talking about the harmonic damener pulley
