Default The Z71 is in surgery for N/A duty!

Rick started tearing apart the Z71 to salvage the turbo equipment for the Silverado and to put the GMC back to N/A and daily driving duty.

At this point the plans are:

stock 6.0L (LQ4 or LQ9 if I get lucky)
GTP Stage2+ heads (307cfm intake 220cfm exhaust) high compression
220 or 226 cam on a 114 and mid .550 lift #s.
43lb injectors
AS&M long tubes
4L80E and HD transfer case
PI 3000 stall (high STR)
Stock Modified intake
Stock exhaust system with magnaflow muffler.

My goal is high 13s, 100mph traps and 15mpg!!!

Last time the truck saw N/A duty it ran 14.29@97mph 2.0 60'. I didn't have heads then and it was a stock 5.3L. I still got 15.5mpg with the 226 cam so gas milage may be doable. This was with a raceweight of 4900lbs. For racing the truck should still be near that but about 300lbs heavier on the street.

Anyone have any estimates on ET/MPH??

Damn man. I dont know what I would do with 2 vehicles to mod. My girls next car will be something that runs low 13's or maybe 12's from the factory with 4 doors.
Any plans as to how the intercooler will be mounted on the new truck?
With heads, cam, and a 6.0 with some good tuning I think could do at least low 13's through an '80, maybe even a high 12

LOL, I had 3 cars at one point and talk about restraint! The C5 only had a Blackwing filter, offroad X-pipe and a Z06 exhaust. At one point I bought converter for it but turned around and sold it because I only bought it in a moment of weakness. Hahaha

What kind of compression are you going to use? Why the bigger injectors? There is no FI on this anymore right?

Depends on what motor I end up with. With the LQ9 I could possibly end up pretty high but I don't know the actual CCs of these chambers. All I do know is that on my LS1 they made my CR 11.4:1. They have been milled pretty heavily and the chambers were welded up to resemble 5.3L heads (back before companies started unisg 5.3L blanks).

The stock injectors will not handle this kind of power and I don't want to do a conversion of the wire harness to make 30lbers fit plus i already have the 42s. Tuning will easily allow me to run the 42s.

I was going to up the compression with the new set of heads, but now I don't know. Did you run the LS1 on pump gas? My girl might drive the SS from time to time so I kinda got lighten up on the plans alittle. She doesn't need any more tickets, lol My heads are getting ported and polished with 2.02 and 1.57 valves, just on the fence about the compression right now.

The T/A ran on 91 octane just fine. I think I had 28deg of timing also. Never had any issues. I don't think I'd want the truck to be that high but 10.5:1 or 11:1 might be doable. I'm not sure how much my weight is going to effect things. But if I can manage it it woul dbe damned responsive for daily driivng. LOL

I was thinking 10.8:1 ,but might just stay at 10.2. I am just afraid of detontation. I mean we still get good 93 here in Jersey, I quess I wouldn't have a problem.
